Pugs & pizza? It’s been done.

We’re Here to Share a New Story

Pugs, as a dog breed, are generally misunderstood to be lethargic, sedentary, overweight dogs that are incapable of anything except eating, sleeping, and dreaming of wanting a slice of pizza 24/7. Personally, I find this to be an exhausted & uninspiring trope that I see consistently reinforced in popular culture every single day on social media. There are dozens upon dozens of memes critiquing these little dogs for their man-made shortcomings, making a joke out of just how far removed they are from their wild ancestor, the grey wolf. But what if we stopped to question what this commentary actually means? Are there parallels between the arguably “degenerative” evolutionary path of flat-faced breeds, and the potentially equally as degenerative evolutionary path of our own species? As a result, have we given away our power & freedom to make choices that allow us to live our lives to their greatest potential?

 REDEFINING WHAT IT MEANS TO

“LIVE THE PUG LIFE”

What you find here on Grumble Farm is not going to feel or sound similar to the majority of pug-related pages online. We are here to provide stories, resources, and insights that support the process of unlearning what we’ve been taught to accept as truth while remembering that we are capable of so much more than we have been led to believe about ourselves in regards to responsible dog guardianship. Our content serves to empower you on your own journey of self-discovery & connection with your pug, through both life and death. Join us as we explore and capture the ethereal beauty of British Columbia’s wild West Kootenays with our own senior pugs - Jonas, Fern, and Ivy - making the absolute best of their precious golden years. Together, we hope to invoke an authentic experience of honour & reverence for the beautiful and bittersweet journey that is senior dog parenthood, while challenging the current status quo about the pug breed.
